Tongue scraping, high strength mouthwashes, regular brushing and flossing…
None of it made a difference.
For as long as I can remember, there was a coating on my tongue and a particular odor to my saliva.
Fortunately, it wasn’t horrendous.
Then again, if you have bad breath, do you expect anyone to tell you about it?
It wasn’t until I used an oral probiotic that I began to see the coating on the tongue dissolve and my breath take on a wonderfully neutral odor.
That’s when it hit me that all this time, I probably had a bacterial imbalance in my mouth.
The product I used to clear this up, which I have no affiliation with other than promoting products on Amazon, is Hyperbiotics Pro-Dental.
It takes using a higher than usual dose for myself (about 4-6 a day) to really knock out whatever was going on in my mouth.
However after about two weeks of use, it’s made such a difference that I decided to post a blog about it which I haven’t done in years.
I’ve used probiotics of different varities for the past couple of years.
As more research emerges, it clear not all probiotics are created equal.
For one, it’s more about the diversity of bacteria typically than any one strain being inherently “good” or “bad.”
The body is a complex ecosystem.
The point is that even if you’re taking probiotics and/or eating fermented foods, that may not be enough.
In my case, I clearly needed a few particular strains for optimal oral health.
The BLIS K12 and BLIS M18 strains in hyperbiotics formula have been show in research to crowd out the “bad” bacteria and fight bad breath.
I also added in L. Sakei which has been shown to be missing in people with chronic sinusitis.
So whether or not you have oral health issues or just want to maintain squeeky clean breath, it’s worth the less than $25 bucks to pick this up.
